Even though he is the visionary leader and founder of INDUS, a highly successful Federal information technology company, Shiv happily talks with anyone and everyone. You can stop by his office to talk business, chat, or just say hi. He founded INDUS in 1993, and is more than willing to share a story or two about the company’s early years.
Emigrating from India in 1979, Shiv brought nothing with him but $500 and a Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering from the University of Madras. When he arrived stateside, he decided to further his education at Clarkson University, choosing to continue his pursuit of chemical engineering with a Master’s Degree. From there, Shiv worked with numerous government and commercial IT providers. Along the way, he honed his management skills by spending two summers at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, and after 13 years in the United States, he founded INDUS.
Since 1993, Shiv has guided INDUS to exponential growth and success. He continues to develop and strengthen strategic business relationships with numerous partners, and is always looking to expand INDUS’ business base in the federal sector. Shiv is a well-respected business leader within the Washington, DC Region’s business community and serves on several boards, including recently as President of the Association for Corporate Growth, National Capital. Shiv has received many accolades, from being recognized as “one of the 20 people we admire in Washington business” by SmartCEO Magazine to being named the 2002 SBA Small Business Person of the Year. He has also been named as a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year three times.
Shiv is passionate about education and generously gives his time to Fairfax County Schools and advises the University of Virginia, George Mason University’s School of Management, and George Mason University Foundation as a member of their boards.
In his free time, you might catch Shiv with his wife at their daughters’ sporting events or at the local multiplex watching an action flick!
