Challenge: To support NOAA’s goal to advance short-term warning and forecasting services for the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL)/National Weather Service.

Solution: INDUS provides support for the research and development of remote and in-situation sensing systems, and creates applications with the resulting data to improve forecasting. INDUS performs systems research and development support, software development, IT performance evaluation, and maintains enterprise architecture requirements. INDUS support scientists’ desktops, supercomputer maintenance, compiler optimization for scientific model runs, and satellite and radar data storage and recovery.

Challenge: To improve the performance of enterprise-wide IT systems for FHWA’s 3,400 end-user community in 65 divisions, centers and offices throughout the United States.

Solution: In partnership with FHWA, INDUS established a Technology Advisory Council (TAC) to provide continuous IT Governance that improves their capability for planning, advice, and recommendations on project issues. Our team reports on customer business and IT needs; current use of technology; and the advantages and disadvantages of implementing related technologies into the customer environment.

Challenge: To consolidate information technology services of seven small Operating Divisions supporting the HHS headquarters and regional and satellite locations into a cost effective, centrally managed environment.

Solution: INDUS transformed the IT support services through detailed analyses and studies; establishment of a single service desk and network operations center; consolidation of email applications into a single enterprise email system; and integration of disparate directory systems into a single Active Directory. These changes dramatically improved IT service delivery while reducing cost.
